This position assists the Golf Course Superintendent with the turf management of the Brute or Highlands Golf Course and managing the daily golf course operations by scheduling, training, and supervising the golf maintenance staff.
Essential Functions:
- Assist course superintendent with the turf management of the Brute or Highlands Golf Course
- Responsible for daily maintenance of entire course in superintendent’s absence
- Daily course inspection
- Communicate course conditions with superintendent, golf staff, and guests as appropriate
- Position will be hands on, a working manager
- Weekly scheduling of golf maintenance crew
- Scheduling and assigning daily tasks
- Assist in the interview and hiring of seasonal associates
- Training of all associates on equipment, safety topics,
- Assist with scheduling and implementing chemical and fertilizer programs
- Irrigation program setup and scheduling and repair
- Campus snow removal
- Assist with capital improvement projects
- Able to communicate with mechanics for equipment issues/needs
Position Requirements:
- Strong desire to continue a career in golf course maintenance.
- Turf management education helpful
- Turf maintenance related background needed
- Basic computer skills(Word, Excel)
- Able to obtain Wisconsin pesticide certification within first year of employment
- Management or supervisory experience of a crew of more than (10)
- Must be able to work in all weather conditions. Must be able to lift 50lbs
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including overtime; on days, nights, weekends and holidays
- Must possess good organizational/time management skills
- Able to develop camaraderie with team members
- Act ethically and honestly in all business practices
- Desire to build effective relationships with associates, managers, supervisors, and vendors
