Director of Food & Beverage, Saint Kate - The Arts Hotel

Saint Kate - The Arts Hotel is on the search for someone who has the motivation and drive to lead the Food & Beverage team. The Director of Food and Beverage will supervise, inspire and train all management level associates in the food and beverage discipline. This person will take the artistic and trendy aspects of Saint Kate and drive the financials through the creation of menus, specials and promotions as well as maintenance and decrease in food cost and awareness and adherence to staffing levels throughout the food and beverage outlets. This integral part of Kate’s leadership team will also serve on the Executive Committee.

Other Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Is responsible for the achieving sales goals in the Food and Beverage Department. Will be responsible for cost and profit goals as it relates to sales.
• Participation with annual budget and monthly forecasts.
• Control purchases of direct expenses as dictated by the budget.
• Responsible for the achievement of budget profit lines.
• Responsible for all guest responses in his/her area and establishes action plans to improve service levels.
• Insure adequate management coverage within the Food and Beverage department to include weekends and weekdays and evenings.
• Responsible for establishing service standards with other department heads.
• Attend all required meetings: F & B and Staff
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
• High School Diploma required, advanced degree in hospitality related field preferred.
• A minimum of three years experience as a department manager in hotel Food and Beverage, a large restaurant, kitchen, catering operation; or a minimum of 2 years experience as an assistant manager in a hotel Food and Beverage department or at a high volume, full-service restaurant or catering operation.
• Strong knowledge of Food & Beverage operations, preparation techniques, beverage operations and wines.
• Mathematical abilities in order to determine and track inventory, controls, revenue productions, and other hotel financial statement.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint helpful, Outlook and touch screen POS systems.
• Dependable and reliable to meet the demands of a 24 hour operation with flexibility to work a varied schedule to include days, evenings, weekends, holidays and the ability to work under pressure.
• Demonstrated knowledge of local competition and current industry trends
• Excellent interpersonal, listening and communication skills to include the ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English Language to understand menus, special promotions, record orders, and communicate with guests to explain orders
• Ability to develop subordinates to enhance advancement in the hotel and corporation.
