The Information Technology - Network Engineer II is responsible for the design, implementation, support, and preventive maintenance of the organization wide IT network.
 
The Network Engineer II is also responsible for maintaining security governance on all network devices in accordance with regulatory policies.
 
Essential Functions:   
  • Design, maintain, and upgrade network systems and infrastructure
  • Monitor metrics around utilization and capacity and recommend changes as necessary
  • Coordinate security testing and implement response or remediation steps as necessary
  • Ensure creation and maintenance of current documentation of network topology
  • Provide technical support for cross team projects
  • Assist in the development and documentation of technical standards
  • Configure, maintain, upgrade and backup all networking equipment and systems to maintain integrity of the network stability and security
  • Modify firewall rules as needed by users and in accordance with best practices
  • Monitor network performance, latency and errors to resolve issues both internally and externally
  • Manage circuit provisioning of new installations and upgrades
  • Support LANs, WANs, network segments, Internet, and intranet systems
  • Disaster Recovery Planning and Implementation
  • Provide training and mentoring for others on the team  
 
Position Requirements: 

Bachelor’s degree in a computer science or engineering is strongly preferred,

2-5 years prior experience in a network specific role and advanced understanding or demonstrated skill with the following is required or preferred:

  • Solid knowledge of LAN / WAN protocols
  • Advanced / current Cisco certification preferred.
  • Wireless, telecommunications, and networking knowledge
  • Data networking knowledge (OSI Model, TCP/IP, Optical Transport)
  • Industry specifications and standards IEEE, ANSI, Fiber (Multimode, Single mode, UTP, etc.), Bridging, Switching, Routing, Ethernet and Transport technologies and protocols
  • Basic knowledge in network design, network architecture, protocols and network topology
  • Solid knowledge of basic network devices and basic network appliances
  • Advanced knowledge of network designing software, such as Visio
  • Excellent incident identification and problem solving skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to interact professionally and effectively with all levels
  • Must be strong at both working as part of a team and independently as required
  • Ability to prioritize workload base on business needs and perform duties under deadline pressure
  • Patience, flexibility, and ability to handle pressure in a fast-paced, high volume office environment
  • Detail-oriented and dedicated to follow-through in all work to accurately and effectively complete operational and project based assignments on-time
  • On site during normal working hours and available as necessary before or after normal working hours
  • Ability to travel 20% overnight to remote sites
