The IT System Administrator I is responsible for providing support and preventive maintenance for the organization’s server network.  This position will ensure that all systems are maintained to meet compliance regulations and security measures.  Additionally this position will ensure the quality and availability of data integrity by maintaining backups and ensuring procedures are followed.


Essential Functions: 

  1. Administer and support corporate Domains and Active Directory Environment.

  2. Administer and support servers in physical and virtual environment; complete reporting, patching and software deployment in accordance with corporate standards, software and equipment.

  3. Maintain ownership of patching levels of all Windows, Linux and virtual environments to ensure compliance needs are met.

  4. Perform system backups and recovery on data, servers and virtual environments.

  5. Install software and service packs and complete software upgrades as needed.

  6. Build physical and virtual environments using documented build procedures and checklists. 

  7. Ensure all end user endpoints are patched along with third party applications using our corporate patching products. 

  8. Work with end user, third party service providers and IT team to diagnose and solve routine problems.

  9. Support Microsoft operating systems, Active Directory & Domain architecture, NTFS permissions, DNS, OS security.

Position Requirements:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in a computer science or engineering is strongly preferred.

  2. 2 - 4 years of experience in a server support role is strongly preferred.

  3. Microsoft Certifications preferred (MCSE) or equivalent certification in relevant programs.

  4. Working knowledge of the following technologies:

    • Windows Server OS based solutions.

    • Basic data networking knowledge.

    • Knowledge and experience in VMware preferred.

    • Knowledge and experience in multi-site & multi-domain Active Directory management.

    • Knowledge of network designing software, such as Visio.

    • Understanding of or experience with backup software and recovery strategies, SAN technologies, web servers.

    • Understanding of Linux based systems.

    • Experience with Exchange 2016 services and support.

    • Cloud technologies such as AWS and Azure preferred.

  5. Excellent incident identification and problem solving skills.

  6. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  7. Ability to interact professionally and effectively with all levels.

  8. Must be strong at both working as part of a team and independently as required.

  9. Ability to prioritize workload base on business needs and perform duties under deadline pressure.

  10. Patience, flexibility, and ability to handle pressure in a fast-paced, high volume office environment.

  11. Detail-oriented and dedicated to follow-through in all work to accurately and effectively complete operational and project based assignments on-time.

  12. Must be able to work independently to troubleshoot, perform root cause analysis, identify and isolate technical issues.

  13. On site during normal working hours and available as necessary before or after normal working hours. designing software, such as Visio.
